Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American broadcaster. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN who is also anchor for SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. Her mother is the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since the age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in securing her first job as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami, where she worked with the producers of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Then she was promoted to a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she relocated in Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist at KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. She covered stories about immigration and drug trafficking across both Texas as well as Mexico. In addition, she was used occasionally as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she takes on more responsibility. She covered The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason, as well as the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. She was hired as anchor of the sports program for Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collins' parents are born in Veracruz Mexico. At some point they were moved to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. There is a sister. In 1992, the family relocated to Miami after relocating from Mexico in the US. Then, shortly afterward the family split up, and, in 1995 Fabio Fajardo remarried. He passed away from kidney cancer in the year 2006. In June of the year 2006, Antonietta spent one week with her sibling at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was employed there. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school, but was already aware of her plans for what she would be doing. At the end of the day, she fell in love with the campus. They also offered her a an academic major. After completing her high school education, she attended the University to pursue media studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor at WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a member. Her professor, Mark Bergmann, inspired her with his enthusiasm for journalism. He also deeply impacted her.
